SIX CONTINENTS HOLIDAY INN AIR-CONDITIONING INSTALLATION PROGRAM

The Holiday Inn contract was notable for the number of hotels having air conditioning installed at the same time.  The client required a company with the capacity to not only cope with up to 23 hotels at any one time but who had the experience and expertise to carry out the installation of the air conditioning works to the highest standards despite the project being extremely  fast track

The equipment supplier, having already successfully contracted AlterTherm for their other air conditioning installation  projects, such as the Car Phone Warehouse chain, Debenhams stores, Boots the Chemist, Northern Rock Building Societies, St James Park Hotel, and The Forum Hotel, amongst others, naturally turned to AlterTherm again, but it was still a surprise to them that we could cope with that level of works in addition to facilitating the installation on their other projects, and without letting down our other numerous clients

AlterTherm carried out the installation works between 2002 & 2004 and, of over 6,000 bedrooms, public areas and disabled rooms, only 11 bedrooms were handed back over schedule, but none were later than 24 hours.   The main contractor certainly made the right choice!

AlterTherm can also offer a complete turnkey service, supply and installation of air-conditioning,
or air conditioning installation only, to suit the clients or main contractors needs


 

The systems used for the Holiday Inns are the popular Daikin VRV system of either 2 or 3 pipe.  The outdoor units were sited either on the roof, in a plant room or other suitable storage area.  The systems are ducted to the bedrooms with the design generally being a grill opening to the bulkhead above the hall area, as can be seen in the picture.  The VRV system allows multiple indoor units to be connected to one large outdoor unit.  The systems are controlled by Intelligent Controllers.  The pictures show examples of some of the works carried out by AlterTherm.  The list of hotels, along with the program dates during which the air conditioning installations were carried out, are shown below
